Safari - with a new twist

In the November 2009, Conde' Nast Traveler magazine they suggest new and exciting ways to go on safari. No, it's your old safari by jeep routine.

The article, "Moving experiences," suggests traveling on safari by such methods as; boat, bike, elephant and camel. It all sounds exciting until you trip to take a photo or adjust your sunglasses with your gear dangling at your sides. Nevertheless, it does sound very exotic - until you're tracked down by a cheetah - but maybe that is all part of the adventure.

Word to the wise, elephants are a better ride than camels and are a little nicer/friendlier. A bike may sound very eco-friendly, but make sure you can ride with the herd. We all know what happens to stragglers!

The boat safari sounds the most relaxing and a terrific way to see otherwise hidden wildlife. Yes, a leisurly ride on the Zambezi can be very beautiful, as well as, adventurous.
